When you log on to Meria for the first time, you will be asked to perform a KYC check.
What is KYC and why is it mandatory ?
KYC (“Know Your Customer”) is an identity verification procedure used to identify our customers.
This procedure is necessary in order to comply with current French regulatory requirements. The information collected will remain for the exclusive use of our company.
What are the different levels of KYC and the associated documents required?
There are 2 levels of KYC: standard KYC and advanced KYC.
💡You can choose between the two. As the standard level is limited, you
advanced level if you exceed a certain deposit/withdrawal volume.
💡Part of this verification is done on smartphone.
💡In certain situations, the advanced level may be required.
Standard level :
Step 1: Start verification
Go to this page and click on “Start identity verification” :
You will be redirected to the Synaps platform, our KYC partner. Click on “Start verification”.
Step 2: Scan the QR code
Grab your smartphone and scan the QR code.
👉 If you're unable to scan the QR code, select “Unable to scan code”, then open the indicated link via your phone.
Step 3: First and last name
Enter your first and last name and click on “Continue”.
Step 4: Language selection
Select your language and click on “Start verification”.
Step 5: Country of residence
Select your country, then click on “Continue verification”.
💡 In application of French and European anti-money laundering and anti-terrorist financing regulations, residents of a pre-established list of countries may be refused the opening of a Meria account.
Step 6: The identity document
At this stage, you will need to add a photo of your identity document:
An identity card,
Passport
Residence permit.
Driving licenses are not accepted.
Once you've selected the document type, enter the country of origin.
Then click on “Continue verification” and accept the legal disclaimer.
💡 Your browser may ask you to authorize access to the phone's camera, so click “Authorize”.
You'll need to shoot your document in different ways:
Front side of your document flat ;
Front of your document tilted;
Passport photo ;
Back of your document flat;
Verso of your tilted document.
Step 7: Face scan
After that, you'll need to scan your face, with the steps indicated on the screen:
From the front ;
In profile ;
By moving part of the face
Once you've reached the data upload page, don't touch or close the page until you reach this one:
🎉 Congratulations, you have completed the standard identity verification (KYC) process 🎉
Advanced level :
👉 The latter is not mandatory. However, as the standard level is limited, it is recommended to validate the advanced level if you don't want to be limited.

👉 You can validate this level of KYC, either on the phone or on the computer.
Once you have validated your standard KYC, you will need to add 2 additional documents:
Proof of address
Proof of funds
Step 1: Proof of address
Open your synaps session, passing through the verification page, then, in the open tab, click on “Continue verification”.
Then enter your full address:
Address ;
City ;
Zip code ;
Country; City
Then select your type of receipt and add it.
The following documents are accepted:
water bill,
electricity
gas,
home phone/internet bill.
⚠ Mobile phone bills are not accepted.
💡Are you staying with a third party or do you not have a document in your name?
Tick the “Certificate of accommodation” box. You will then be asked to submit:
A document identifying the host: valid ID ;
Proof of the host's address: Proof of address in the name of your host.
Proof of accommodation: Attestation signed and dated by the host.
Once the document has been downloaded, click on Continue. This will close the Synaps window.
Step 2: Proof of funds
You can choose the source of your funds. Depending on the source, the documents requested may differ.
If you have selected “Salary/retirement”, then you will be asked to add your last 3 payslips, or your last tax notice.
And that's it, you've completed your advanced verification!
